A concept derived from seeing on a daily basis that children and young people with cancer, life altering illnesses or limited mobility were unable to access Ayr beach to enjoy as others do!  Whiteleys invested in buying a selection of beach wheechairs and we have opened a Beach HUB located at Ayr beach. Here, we offer free hire of our beach wheelchairs to everyone in our community - not exclusive to children or those visiting the retreat. We welcome all children, young people and the elderly. The beach wheelchairs are FREE to use. Ayr beach should be enjoyed by everyone - all ages - all abilities! Follow our Facebook page for opening days and times. Hippocampe Go-kart Style Wheelchair

The Hippocampe is an all-terrain wheelchair. This beach friendly wheelchair makes it possible for the user to go into the water and swim while the chair floats. The Hippocampe offers its user autonomy over difficult terrain or can be easily pushed by an attendant or family member. The seat, the armrests, the headrest are composed of a thick and hydrophobic foam that does not absorb water and dries quickly. The blue sheathed tubes are comfortable to the touch and do not heat up in the sun. We can convert this beach wheelchair to all terrain tyres which allows access to forest trails and off-road tracks.
